Sideline to Sideline
Why this drill
Match dinks are hit on the move — slide, hit, recover, slide. This drill takes the static dink rally and drags it across the full width of the kitchen, where balance and recovery live or die.
Setup
Both players at their non-volley-zone lines with the full court width available.
The drill
Cooperative dink rally that travels: start at one sideline and work the rally across to the other, one paddle-width at a time — each dink aimed slightly ahead of your partner so both of you keep sliding. Touch the far sideline, then work back. One full width and back is a lap; three laps without an error is strong. Every dink is hit from a balanced stop — the drill is failed by hitting on the slide, even when the ball lands.
One thought to take on court
Slide, stop, dink — three separate things. The stop is the one that saves you.
