No-Drive Doubles
Why this drill
Full doubles with the drive banned: every point must be built from drops, dinks, and position. The four-player version of the soft-game discipline — and the fastest way to expose which team actually knows how to construct a point.
Setup
Full court, normal doubles setup and serving. A shared honest definition of a drive: if it would sting, it's a drive.
The drill
Play real games to 11 with drives and smashes banned for both teams — serves and returns at honest pace are legal, everything after must arc. Teams call their own violations. Points are won by the team that reaches the line first and dinks with more patience, which is to say: by doubles played correctly. Play two games with a partner swap between them so everyone builds points with everyone.
One thought to take on court
When you can't hit through them, you must move them — every soft ball should relocate somebody.
