Wall Depth Ladder

Why this drill

Every distance from the wall is a different shot: seven feet is a dink, ten is a reset, fourteen is a drive-and-control problem. The depth ladder chains them into one climbing block — the whole transition game against a wall that never misses.

Setup

Wall with the 34-inch line. Mark three stations on the ground: seven, ten, and fourteen feet from the wall.

The drill

Start at seven feet dinking. A streak of ten clean balls above the line moves you back a station: at ten feet the rally becomes resets — softer contact, more height; at fourteen it becomes controlled drives you must tame back into rhythm. Reaching the back station and holding a streak of ten there completes one ladder up; then climb back down, station by station, finishing with ten dinks. Log ladders completed in fifteen minutes. Dropping a ball anywhere sends you one station forward — toward the easier shot, never back to the start.

One thought to take on court

Change depth with your backswing, not your effort — the wall reads lazy feet at every distance.
