Wall Intervals
Why this drill
Pickleball points alternate calm and chaos — thirty seconds of dinks, three seconds of war. Interval wall work trains the switch itself: fast hands on demand, soft hands on command, tired hands regardless.
Setup
Wall with the 34-inch line. Start six feet back. A timer you can hear — phone in a pocket works.
The drill
Alternate timed intervals: thirty seconds of maximum-controlled-speed volleys — no bounce, above the line, the pace right at your edge — then thirty seconds of soft dinks with one bounce, deliberately calm. That minute is one round; do eight to ten rounds without stopping between. The test isn't the fast interval — it's the first three dinks after it, hit with a heart rate. Count dropped balls per round and watch the count fall across weeks.
One thought to take on court
Exhale into the soft interval — the switch from war to calm is a breath, then hands.
