Wall Overheads
Why this drill
Overhead repetitions without a lobbing partner: the wall throws the lob back up if you feed it right. Track, drop-step, and put the overhead away — then do it again ten seconds later.
Setup
Wall with the 34-inch line and clear height above it. Stand ten to twelve feet back. Mark a low target band: the strip between the ground and the tape line.
The drill
Lift a soft, high ball into the upper wall so it rebounds up and out as a short lob. Drop-step, track back or adjust under it, and hit a controlled overhead aimed at the low target band — a smash placed low on the wall dies instead of attacking you back. Catch the remains and repeat. Ten overheads per set: score those that strike the low band. Three sets, alternating which shoulder you feed the lob over. Placement over pace throughout — the drill is footwork wearing a smash costume.

Sideways under the ball, paddle up early — the overhead is decided before your arm moves.
