Wall Serve Targets
Why this drill
Serve practice with no ball-chasing and no court time. Chalk targets turn wall serving from vague rehearsal into placement training — and at every rec level, a deep, placed serve earns more cheap points than a hard one.
Setup
Wall with the 34-inch line. Chalk two targets a couple of feet above the line, each about two feet square, six feet apart — one for the wide serve, one for the T. Stand at least twenty-two feet back, baseline distance, with a bucket of balls.
The drill
Serve ten balls at one target, ten at the other, full legal motion every time — below the waist, arm swinging upward. Score each set out of ten, counting balls that strike inside the box. Between sets, hit five deliberately slower serves focusing only on a consistent contact point. Two full rounds; log all four target scores and watch the trend across weeks, not days.
One thought to take on court
Same toss-drop, same contact, every time — placement comes from a repeatable swing, not from steering.
